ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has decided against availing the InternationalMonetary Fund bailout package.
As per the media report, federal government has decided not to enter anInternational Monetary Fund (IMF) programme for now, Finance Minister AsadUmar said on Saturday.
The finance minister made the remarks while talking to businessmen at theKarachi Chamber of Commence and Industry (KCCI).
Umar said that instead of availing IMF programme, the government wasexploring alternative options.
Furthermore, the finance minister announced that the government will unveila mini-budget on Jan 23 instead of Jan 21. He associated the two-day delayto an impending foreign trip of Prime Minister Imran Khan.ARTICLE CONTINUES AFTER AD
The finance minister said that his visits of Lahore and Karachi wereregarding a one-point agenda: the amended finance bill, which he said willfacilitate businessmen.
Umar indicated that the amended bill will also carry “some good news” forthe Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) .
