ISLAMABAD - Italian Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo called on Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Sartaj Aziz expressed satisfaction at the recent 46 percent increase in Pakistan's trade with Italy, from 1.3 billion dollars in 2015-16 to 2 billion dollars in 2016-17.
The Ambassador said there is growing interest among Italian business community to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan, especially in view of the new possibilities opening up under CPEC.
He said the heads of many Italian companies visited Pakistan in recent months to meet potential business partners especially in the fields of natural gas, LNG, automotive industry, agricultural machinery, textile machinery and the construction sector.
