ISLAMABAD:Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL),in Indian occupied Kashmir, has said the hanging of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, is like a black page in the judicial history.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the JRL comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “A human (Muhammad Afzal Guru) was secretly put to gallows in 2013 on petty pretext of satisfying the collective conscience of Indian people, without giving him a last chance to meet his family and handing over his corpse to them for last rites.”
It said that same cruelty and criminal treatment was also given to Muhammad Maqbool Butt in 1984 when he was also hanged in similar haste, without giving him a last chance to meet his family.
The JRL also condemned the imposition of curfew and restrictions, banning of Friday prayers at Jamia Masjidin Srinagar, arrest spree, nocturnal raids and other oppressive measures. “This has become the most desired practice of the so-called largest democracy which actually has turned Kashmir into a big concentration camp,” it added.
The JRL also condemned the continued house arrest of Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and detention of Muhammad Yasin Malik.
Meanwhile, a memorandum framed by the JRL to seek return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail was read and adopted in masajid across occupied Kashmir.
The memorandum stated, “This gathering demands the return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru buried in Tihar Jail, New Delhi, and stresses upon international human rights organizations to play their role to bring back these remains.”
“The gathering reiterates that the sacrifices rendered by Kashmiris are unforgettable and the movement for which people, including Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru, laid down their lives will continue at all costs till the goal is achieved,” it added.APP/AFP
