SRINAGAR: A complete shutdown strike is being observed in Indian Occupied Kashmir IOK to mark the anniversary of martyred liberation leader Muhammad Maqbool Butt.

All shops, markets, business establishments and public transport remain closed in Srinagar and in major towns.

Strike call was given by Hurriyet leaders to press the demand for transfer of his mortal remains to occupied Kashmir.

Muhammad Maqbool Butt was hanged in New Delhi’s Tahir jail in 1984 and buried in the premises of the prison.

Indian police stopped people and arrested several freedom leaders to stop them from participating in the protest.
