BAHAWALPUR: (APP) Provincial Minister for Co-operative Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer has said that Punjab government has earmarked massive funds amounting to Rs. 312 billion and 800 million to modernize the education sector.
This historic fiscal intervention into the education sector is aimed to create a solid knowledge based economy in Punjab, Minister said in a press statement.
As many as 10 thousand primary schools would have early child- hood education rooms which would impart decent and modern early educational socialization to the kids on modern lines, he added.
He said that funds of Rs. 56.74 billion have been earmarked for the augmentation of schools' education system while Rs. 46.86 billion would be injected to the higher education system which would give a solid impetus to promote state of the art education in the province.
As many as 1.9 million students would get a high quality free education through an allocation of Rs. 12 billion which would be spent through Punjab education foundation in the province, Minister noted.
He further said that Chief Minister Punjab has enhanced Punjab Education Endowment Fund from Rs. 4 billion to Rs. 20 billion which reflects the visionary commitment of Chief Minister Punjab to widen the scope of extending academic scholarships for public sector students in the 36 districts of the province.
"Chief Minister Punjab has allocated funds amounting to rupees one billion to impart modern education to the special children in Punjab", he maintained.
