ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission (HEC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s Overseas Technology Pvt. Ltd for offering subsidized online courses and certification of highly ranked world renowned universities to recipients of Prime Minister's Laptop Scheme.
In this regard a signing ceremony was held here Tuesday at HEC in which Chairperson Prime Minister's Youth Programme, Leila Khan, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, Dr Arshad Ali Executive Director HEC and higher management of HEC also participated.
This agreement will provide an opportunity to the students secure certifications from world renowned universities that will enhance their learning capabilities and skills for professional career.
A verified certificate from authentic online platform can serve as a proof for an employer that someone is abreast of cutting-edge tools and skills needed for a competitive career internationally.
Keeping in view the significance of the online learning, budget provision for these online courses has been made part of the project.
MS and PhD level laptop recipients of Prime Minister's Laptop Scheme can sign up and enroll in different courses and earn certificates upon the completion of specified modules.
The minor portion of course fee will be borne by the students while major portion of the cost will be subsidized by the Government. The main aim of the cost sharing is to ensure student's commitment and seriousness in pursuing the courses.
