ISLAMABAD – Sleepless Night in India as Pakistan offered to join RussiaChina and Iran Naval war games in Indian Ocean.
Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi made offer to Pakidtanwho is currently in Pakistan on an official visit.
The Rear Admiral toured the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad today where hecalled on Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.
Both commanders discussed matters related to regional maritime security andbilateral naval collaboration.
Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi lauded the efforts made by Pakistan in thewar against terrorism. During the meeting, Iran’s Navy Commanderhighlighted the role Pakistan Navy has played in ensuring maritime securityand peace across the region.
Hossein Khanzadi also extended an official invitation to Pakistan Navy forparticipating in the ‘Maritime Security Belt wargame’.
Maritime Security Belt wargame, a joint naval drill between Iran, Russia,and China in the Indian Ocean, will be held on 27 December 2019.
Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi expressed his gratitude to the IranianCommander for the participation of the Iranian Navy in AMAN-19, aMultinational Maritime Exercise hosted by Pakistan.
Moreover, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi said that Iran can serve as animportant linking point between East and West in the China-Pakistanmaritime corridor.
Currently, the Iranian Navy holds the presidency of the Indian Ocean NavalSymposium (IONS), a voluntary initiative that seeks to increase maritimeco-operation among navies of the littoral states of the Indian OceanRegion. Iran’s Navy Commander praised Pakistan’s efforts to help Iran landthe presidency of IONS.
On his arrival at the Naval Headquarters, the Iranian Naval Commander wasaccorded with a Guard of Honor from a contingent of the Pakistan Navy.Hossein Khanzadi also laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada’s Monument at theheadquarters.
