ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has underlined Pakistan’s commitmentto commence a new phase in relationship with Russia.
He was talking to Russian Federation Minister for Trade and Industry DenisManturov who called on him in Islamabad today (Wednesday).
Noting positive developments in Pak-Russia relations, the Prime Ministerexpressed the hope that the two sides would further enhance cooperation inthe fields of energy, oil and gas, mineral sector, metallurgy, railways,aviation, IT, agriculture and education.
He highlighted the improved macro-economic stability and business climateand Ease of Doing Business in Pakistan and noted that there were vastopportunities that the Russian companies could utilize for enhanced tradeand investment.
Imran Khan recalled his extensive interaction with President Putin on thesidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of State in Bishkek in June thisyear, in which the two leaders had a fruitful exchange of views. He hopedthat President Putin would visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
The Russian Minister conveyed special greetings of President Putin, whichwere warmly reciprocated by the Prime Minister.
Minister Manturov briefed the Prime Minister on the range of subjectsdiscussed during the 6th session of Pakistan-Russia IntergovernmentalCommission held earlier during the day. He affirmed Russia’s desire forstronger ties with Pakistan and agreed that vast potential existed forenhancing bilateral cooperation in energy, aviation, industry, railways andagriculture sectors.
During the meeting, the importance of leadership exchanges was emphasized.The Prime Minister stated that he looked forward to his visit to Russianext year.
