NAB gathers solid evidences against Khawaja Brothers, recovery worth billions expected: Sources

ISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has gathered solidevidences against Khawaja Brothers, it has been revealed.

NAB on Tuesday said that former railway minister and his brother werearrested by the anti-graft body on concrete evidence.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the NAB spokesperson said that the arrestof Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Salman Rafique was necessary to takethe investigation against the PML-N leaders, over their alleged involvementin a multi-million dollar housing scam, to a logical end.

“Rafique brothers have been arrested for “taking financial benefits” in theLahore s Paragon Housing Society,” he said.

The spokesperson said that the arrest was necessary to recover corruptionmoney and documents, adding that concrete evidence were collected beforethe arrest.

The suspects were also “beneficial owners” of the housing scheme – ParagonCity (Pvt) Ltd – which was launched in 2005 on the basis of forged andfabricated documents, he added.

The spokesperson went on to say that the business partner of Rafiquebrothers, Qasim Amin Butt has turned approver in the case. “Rafiquebrothers, along with Butt, in connivance with one Nadeem Zia and otherlaunched an illegal housing scheme with alleged approvals from TownMunicipal Administration (TMA) Aziz Bhatti Town, Lahore,”
