New Delhi / Islamabad – November 11, 2025:India has issued a fresh Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for November 13,announcing temporary airspace closures and rerouting of civilian airtraffic over several northern and western regions close to the Pakistanborder, according to official aviation advisories.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed that the restrictions are beingimposed for what it described as “operational requirements.” However, nofurther details were provided, fueling speculation about heightened militaryactivity or routine preparedness drills.
The new NOTAM affects air routes over Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu sectors, areas that have historically seen increased military vigilance duringperiods of regional tension. The move comes at a time when India-Pakistanrelations remain fragile, with both sides exchanging sharp diplomaticstatements in recent weeks over border security and alleged ceasefireviolations.
Aviation sources indicate that commercial airlines have been advised toreroute flights to avoid restricted zones on the specified date. Similarairspace closures were seen earlier this year during major IAF exercises, though the timing and location of the current NOTAM have drawn public andmedia attention due to their proximity to the international border.
Security analysts suggest the restrictions could be linked to upcomingmilitarydrills, but others warn they may signal rising unease in the region.
Both Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and foreign ministryhave not yet issued a formal statement, but sources in Islamabad are saidto be “closely monitoring the development.”
As the situation unfolds, regional observers emphasize the need forcommunicationand restraint to avoid misunderstandings between the two nuclear-armedneighbors.
