New development reported in Imran Khan Cipher Case

In Islamabad, the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)chairman have taken legal action against the trial court’s decision toindict them in the cipher case.

The PTI chairman, represented by his lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat, has filed aplea with the Islamabad High Court to annul the decision of indictment inthe cipher case by a special court. He pointed out that they were notprovided with copies of the challan, although the trial court claimed tohave given copies to the accused, as mentioned in the plea.

The Islamabad High Court is being urged to invalidate the decision toindict them in the cipher case.

As of October 9, a special court established under the Official Secret Acthas scheduled the indictment of the former prime minister and PTI chief,along with the former foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in the ciphercase on October 17.

Last month, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had submitted thechallan related to the cipher case against the PTI chairman and ViceChairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
