Khadija Shah Bail Case: LHC announced verdict on bail petition

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has granted bail to Khadija Shah, a PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist, in two cases related to the violence thatoccurred on May 9. A two-member bench of the LHC, with Justice Ayla Neelumas the presiding judge, presided over the case and approved bail not onlyfor Shah but also for nine other individuals involved in the same cases.

Prior to this decision, Khadija Shah, a PTI activist, who had been injudicial remand for her alleged involvement in multiple cases related tothe May 9 riots, had filed an application with the Lahore High Court toobtain information about the various cases filed against her.

This application was submitted by Advocate Sameer Khosa on behalf of Ms.Shah. The petition asserted that the police had wrongly implicated thepetitioner in these cases and argued that she had the right to be aware ofany charges against her to ensure a fair trial.

The petition further requested the court to instruct both the police andthe Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to provide a comprehensive list ofFirst Information Reports (FIRs) that had been registered against thepetitioner.
