The head of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, hasstated that there is no agreement currently in place for the release ofIsraeli prisoners of war.
Such an agreement may only be possible after a ceasefire, and they willnegotiate the prisoners’ release on their own terms.
According to international media reports, Haniyeh made it clear in astatement that they will only release Israeli prisoners of war on their ownconditions, but such an agreement is not in effect at the moment.

Ismail Haniyeh also confirmed that several parties offering mediation forthe release of Israeli captives have contacted Hamas, and they haveinformed all of them of their clear stance that they will deal with theprisoners on their own terms, and there is currently no agreement for theexchange of prisoners of war.
