LAHORE: Pakistan Railways on Tuesday decided to restore the operation ofthree express trains from Karachi.
A meeting chaired by Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique decided torestore operation of Millat Express, Allama Iqbal and Sukkur Express fromKarachi.
The session expressed satisfaction over the occupancy rate, punctuality andcleanliness of trains.
The meeting also reviewed Thar Coal transportation project and compiled thedetails of the scheme.
It also discussed restoration of ML-I, II and III.
Earlier, Pakistan Railways had decided to restore passenger trains toKarachi from October 2, more than a month after being suspended on August26 following flooding in Sindh that had disrupted the railway link with theprovince.
“From October 05, Karakoram, Karachi Express, and Business Express will runbetween Karachi and Lahore,” the railways stated.
The spokesman said that the duration for Karachi-Lahore travel has been setat 22 hours and more coaches will be added to the trains. The travelduration will be reviewed after 30 days and will be reduced gradually.
