US sternly warns Turkey after Washington failed to garner support at UN Security Council

ISLAMABAD – US sternly warns Turkey after Washington failed to garnersupport at UN Security Council.The US, Germany and other nations slammed Turkey’s Syria incursion at theUN, but the Security Council failed to agree on a statement. Meanwhile,Turkey said it planned to advance 30 kilometers into Syrian soil.

“Failure to play by the rules, to protect vulnerable populations, failureto guarantee that (the Islamic State) cannot exploit these actions toreconstitute will have consequences,” the US envoy to the UN, Kelly Craft,told reporters in New York.

The US President Donald Trump “has made abundantly clear” that the US “hasnot in any way” endorsed Turkey’s offensive in Syria, Craft added after aclosed door meeting of the UN Security Council.
