Allama Iqbal Open University sets a new record in the history of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has set a new record in thehistory of Pakistan by enrolling over 1.4 million students in an academicyear.

AIOU set a record of highest enrollment in Autumn 2018 semester, as morethan seven lakh students registered themselves for their future study,while yet the last date for admission is October 15.

However, the same number of students had also been enrolled in Spring 2018,total crossing more than 1.4 million students so far across the country.

The spokesman of the university, while talking to media on Thursday saidthat this was the result of some new initiatives, bringing qualitativeimprovement in the university’s overall working.

During the last four years, an enabling environment was created thatmotivated and encouraged the university’s staff and officers to provide thebest possible services to the university, he added.

He said that major focus was laid on the maximum use of new technology tofacilitate the students in the enrollment process and timely receivingbooks. Besides this, he said 26 brand new academic programs were introducedand the University was developed as a research-based educationalinstitution.

The university’s image was reconstructed by carrying out all-rounddevelopment work, particularly in fields of research, professionaldevelopment and revision of curriculum, besides strengthening the students’support system, the spokesman informed.

It made headway towards publishing accredited research journals, holdingnational and international conferences that provided a platform to youngresearchers to showcase their research work, he said.

Director Admissions AIOU, Syed Ziaul Hasnain Naqvi said that October 15will be the last date for admissions for Autumn 2018 session, with anominal late fee.

The interested ones could take benefit of the opportunity for continuingtheir future study. The admissions programs are opened for the academicprogrammes, published earlier, he added.

He further said that late fee charges of the SSC programme are Rs100/,FA/BA Rs200 while B.Ed and all the postgraduate programs Rs500/-.

Admissions forms and prospectuses could be obtained from the Sale points atthe University’s main campus, 44-Regional Campuses and around 100-Coordinating Offices in various parts of the country, including AzadKashmir and Northern areas, he informed.
