The Lahore High Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of the IslamabadInspector General of Police (IGP) due to his failure to appear in thecontempt of court case.
According to media reports, the Lahore High Court has issued a bailwarrant for the Islamabad IGP. Despite the court’s order to appear onSeptember 18th, the IGP did not show up, leading to the issuance of thewarrant in the contempt of court case. The court has also summoned theIslamabad IGP.
In addition, the court has issued bail warrants for 50 police officersunder the IGP’s jurisdiction. Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf issued a writtendecision on Qaiser Alahi’s request, as Qaiser Alahi had requested contemptof court proceedings against Pervez Alahi for not producing him in thecourt despite bail.
It’s worth noting that despite previous court orders and a contempt ofcourt request, former Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi has not beenbrought to the court’s attention for not producing him in a safe house.Today, the Lahore High Court, in response to Qaisera Elahi’s request forcontempt of court, conducted a hearing, and DIG Anoosha Gashen and DIGOperations Lahore High Court appeared before the court.

The court commented, “If Allah has given someone respect, let it bemaintained.” The court also remarked that they should verify how theIslamabad IGP will appear. The Punjab IGP conducted an inquiry into thematter based on the court’s orders and submitted a report. According to thereport, the police arrested Pervez Elahi under the law. The officers hadfully complied with the Lahore High Court’s order. A government lawyerrequested to be given time to review the report and see the responsesprovided by both police officers. The Lahore High Court has scheduled thehearing of the case until September 18th.
