Sensitive Price Indicator based inflation witnesses increase in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI)-based weekly inflation forthe week ended on September 10 witnessed an increase of 0.37 per cent ascompared to the previous week.

The SPI for the week under review for the combined consumption group wasrecorded at 136.62 points against 136.11 points registered in the previousweek, according to the latest data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for thecombined consumption group in the week under review witnessed an increaseof 9.04pc.

The weekly SPI with base year 2015-16 covers 17 urban centres and 51essential items for all expenditure groups.

The SPI for the lowest consumption group, up to Rs17,732, witnessed a 0.13per cent increase, from 143.00 points in the last week to 143.19 pointsduring the week under review.
