*Washington:* The United States has officially designated the bannedBalochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the banned Majeed Brigade asterrorist organizations. Pakistan has been long asking US to designate theIndian backed BLA and Majeed Brigade as Terrorist Organizations.
According to the U.S. State Department, both groups have been added to thelist of international terrorist organizations. The statement noted that theMajeed Brigade has also been declared a *Specially Designated GlobalTerrorist (SDGT)* entity, while the BLA had already been recognized as aglobal terrorist organization prior to this announcement.
The U.S. administration reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism,with the statement emphasizing that the Trump administration remainssteadfast in its efforts to curb terrorist activities worldwide.
U.S. Secretary of State highlighted that the BLA had claimed responsibilityfor multiple high-profile attacks, including those on Karachi Airport andthe Gwadar Port complex.
Furthermore, the statement mentioned that the BLA was behind the JaffarExpress train attack, in which 31 people were killed and around 300passengers were taken hostage.
The designations aim to restrict the operational and financial activitiesof these groups by imposing strict legal and financial sanctions, as partof Washington’s broader counter-terrorism strategy.
