Renowned defence analyst *Pravin Sawhney* has sharply criticised the recentstatement made by the Air Chief, questioning its credibility and the lackof supporting proof. Speaking on *#TheInterview* with Karan Thapar, Sawhneyasserted that the Air Chief’s claim “doesn’t stand to scrutiny at all” andchallenged the authorities to present concrete evidence to back theirassertions.
The Air Chief’s remarks, which have stirred debate in defence and politicalcircles, were intended to reaffirm the strength and success of recentmilitary operations. However, Sawhney argued that in matters of nationalsecurity and military performance, transparency is essential. “Where is theevidence?” he asked, pointing out that without verifiable data or credibleproof, such statements risk being perceived as political narratives ratherthan factual reports.
During the interview, Sawhney emphasised the importance of accountabilityand public trust, particularly when dealing with sensitive defence matters. He stressed that the government and armed forces must maintain credibilityby ensuring that any claims made in the public domain are substantiatedwith clear, undeniable evidence.
The discussion has reignited calls for greater openness in defencecommunications, with many analysts echoing Sawhney’s concerns. While theAir Chief’s office has yet to respond to these remarks, the debatehighlights the growing demand for fact-based discourse in matters ofnational security.
