ISLAMABAD: (APP) National Coordinator of National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Ihsan Ghani says National Action Plan (NAP) on counter-terrorism is being implemented in letter and spirit.
Talking to Radio Pakistan’s correspondent on Wednesday, he said about 1, 50,000 suspected people and over six thousand hard core terrorists have been arrested so far. Over eight hundred terrorists have been eliminated in different operations.
He said over one hundred thousand operations were conducted across Pakistan.
The NACTA Coordinator said that the list of schedule IV is being revised.
He said draft of the national narrative to counter terrorists’ ideology has been prepared. He said sectarian terrorism reduced due to effective measures during the current year as only 21 people were killed in sectarian related violence.
Commenting on capacity building of NACTA officials, Ihsan Ghani said the authority is cooperating with international partners for training and better counter terrorism strategies.
He said special courts were formed for speedy trial of criminals, which are yielding positive results.
Ihsan Gahni said policy is being formulated to choke terror financing to militants and banned outfits.
He said 126 accounts with accumulated deposits of over one billion rupees have been frozen. He said 498 cases have been registered against facilitators of the terrorists.
About Karachi and Balochistan operations, Ishan Ghani said significant achievements have been made in establishing peace in Karachi and Balochistan.
The coordinator said the coordination among the provinces on intelligent sharing is being enhanced to defeat terrorism.
He said 1342 cases have been registered and 2381 arrested for delivering hate speeches.
Ihsan Ghani said efforts are being made to eliminate religious extremism and a comprehensive policy is being evolved in consultation with the general public and the private sector.
He said about ninety percent of madrasssas have so far been registered.
Ihsan Ghani said recommendations of the FATA Reforms Committee would be approved soon.
He said efforts are being made to ensure that extremist elements do not get footholds in Punjab.
