*ISLAMABAD – The names of former PM Nawaz Sharif and his daughter, MaryamNawaz Sharif, have not been placed on the Exit Control List, said theinterior ministry.*
The ministry spokesperson said that reports about placing their names onthe Exit Control List (ECL) were untrue as the decision will be taken upontheir arrival in the country. He said that the interim cabinet’ssub-committee will decide if the former PM and his daughter have to be puton the list.
Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have been in London since June 15. They hadgone to spend Eid with former first lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. A day beforetheir arrival in London, Begum Kulsoom suffered a cardiac arrest and hassince been on life support at the Harley Street Clinic. The two announcedthat they will return to Pakistan on July 13.
Three days ahead of their expected arrival, it was reported that theinterior ministry placed the names of Mr Sharif and his daughter on theExit Control List on Tuesday.
