ISLAMABAD: Spy chiefs from Russia, China, Iran and Pakistan met inIslamabad on Tuesday to discuss threat posed by the emergence of Daesh(Islamic State) in Afghanistan, Russian news agency TASS *reportedlink>*.
“The discussions focused on the dangers arising from a buildup of theIslamic State on the Afghan territory,” said Russian Foreign IntelligenceService Director Sergei Naryshkin.
“The conference reached understanding of the importance of coordinatedsteps to prevent the trickling of IS terrorists from Syria and Iraq toAfghanistan where from they would pose risks for neighbouring countries,”he added.
Security and intelligence officials from all four countries agreed regionalpowers play an active role in resolve the conflict in Afghanistan.
