ISLAMABAD: Interior Ministry is to decide on putting Sharif family name onthe ECL as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday requested theMinistry of Interior to place former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, daughterMaryam Nawaz, and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar’s names on the Exit ControlList (ECL).

This is NAB’s second letter on the matter. The anti-graft body in a letteron Feb14 had put forward the same request.

NAB in its latest letter maintained that: “The matter is agitated again inview of the fact that reference against the subject accused persons are atthe final stage of the trial. There is apprehension that they may leave thecountry to avoid legal outcomes of the judgment which are expected to beannounced shortly.

NAB in its Feb 14 letter, dispatched two letters to the ministry, oneasking for Nawaz Sharif to be placed on ECL citing him being an accused inthe Azizia Mills reference, Flagship reference, and Avenfield propertiesreference.

In the second letter, it requested to place Maryam Nawaz Sharif and herhusband Captain (retired) Safdar to on the ECL as both are accused in theAvenfield properties reference.
