Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed concern over risingnumber of coronavirus cases in Pakistan.
According to details, PM chaired a high level meeting over the situationarising due to coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers, special advisors andChairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Mohammad Afzal.
The attendees briefed PM on the present socio-economic situation followingease in lockdown.
Special Assistant to PM on Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza and Chairman NDMA gave abriefing on dealing with coronavirus and delivery of safety equipment.
Prior to that, Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting with government’seconomic team, which was attended by Federal Minister for Planning AsadUmar, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar and FinanceAdvisor Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.
The economic situation of the country was discussed in the meeting. Theeconomic team briefed the Prime Minister on economic indicators.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases surged to 30,941 in Pakistan onMonday, while the death toll stands at 667.
According to National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 476cases of coronavirus were reported while 28 people succumbed to the diseasein the last 24 hours.
As many as 8,212 patients have recovered from the disease, while 153 aresaid to be critical as country is still witnessing a consistent rise in theCOVID-19 cases.
As per details, 21 percent of the cases have foreign travel history while79 percent of the cases are reported to be locally transmitted.
