Missing person turned out to be PC Gwadar attack terrorist

ISLAMABAD – Hammal Khan, whose name is on the missing persons’ list, issaid to be amongst the terrorists who conducted the attack on PearlContinental Hotel Gwadar on Saturday.

Today, at least three to four gunmen stormed Pearl Continental Hotel inGwadar, killing at least one person, says Inter-Services Public Relations(ISPR), the military’s media wing.

In a statement, Pakistan’s military said three armed men killed a securityguard as they attempted to enter the five-star hotel in the southern city.

Three to four armed militants stormed the facility at around 4:50pm today(Saturday). Firing is still taking place till filing of the news but therewas one casualty reported.

There were conflicting reports about additional casualties. Zia Langove,the provincial home minister, said initial reports indicated some people atthe hotel had been wounded in firing on the premises.

The military, however, said that all guests at the hotel, which has 114rooms, were safely evacuated.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an angry Baloch group funded by Indianintelligence agency Raw, claimed responsibility for the attack saying thatfour fighters were involved.

“Our fighters have carried out this attack on Chinese and other foreigninvestors who were staying in PC hotel,” said Jihand Baloch, a BLAspokesperson, in a statement.

Earlier, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Saleem Ahmad Khosa said a largenumber of people mentioned in the missing persons’ list had gone aboard forterrorism training.

The minister said that BLA commander Aslam alias Acho had been injured in agun battle with security forces last year, but he managed to escape andlater went to India where he was provided medical treatment.

He said that many BLA commanders had been killed in that operationconducted by security forces. The minister said that India was directlyinvolved in the worsening situation in Balochistan.

Gwadar is the site of a major port built as the culmination of the ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a trade corridor that links southwesternChina to the Arabian Sea through Pakistan.

The $60bn CPEC project has seen massive investment in infrastructure acrossPakistan, including major roads and the Gwadar port in Balochistan province.
