Pakistan Railways passenger train brakes failed, derailed

*SUKKUR – Pakistan Railways passenger train brakes failed and it** derailednear Mehrabpur railway station late on Wednesday.*

According to Railways officials, Bahauddin Zakariya Express which was onits way from Karachi to Multan derailed when its brakes failed after itsengine developed a fault. So far, no casualties have been reported.

A station master said the train was to stop at Mehrabpur station afterleaving Daur station. He said fortunately, the train derailment didn’tresult in any loss of life as railway traffic remained suspended on theaffected rail track for a brief period.

A relief train arrived at the spot of the incident from Padidan and put thetrain back on the track.

Earlier, on April 1, eight bogies of a freight train had derailed near Chak75/P, Rahim Yar Khan, suspending railway traffic on both railway tracks formore than 30 hours.
