Pakistan PM Imran Khan to leave on a maiden visit of key Islamic country: Sources

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon make a maiden visit toTehran.

During his visit to Tehran, Prime Minister Khan will hold formal talks withthe Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and also meet the Supreme LeaderAyatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

“The visit is expected to take place this month as dates are being workedout,” a senior Foreign ministry official told the daily.

The visit has been due since Imran took over as prime minister in Augustlast year.

In a recent interaction with a group of journalists, Iranian Ambassador toPakistan Mehdi Honardoost had said soon there will be very good news forPakistan-Iran relationship.

The paper added the visit is part of Pakistan’s efforts to maintain adelicate balance in its ties with Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Earlier Prime Minister Imran had assured Iranian President Hassan Rouhanithat Islamabad would not allow its soil to be used against the neighboringcountry.

The daily reported that Pakistani officials say while Pakistan considersIran as an important neighboring country.

Officials familiar with the agenda of the prime minister’s upcoming visitsaid Imran would reiterate Pakistan’s offer and call for unity among allthe Muslim countries to deal with common challenges.
