ISLAMABAD- The Election Commission of Pakistan has imposed a ban onrecruitment of public servants in Federal, Provincial and Local Governmentinstitutions ahead of general elections.

According to the Election Commission, appointments that fall under theFederal Public Service Commission and Provincial Public Service Commissionwill be exempted from this ban.

The Commission said that under another order, no development scheme will beallowed to implement including installation of gas pipelines, carpeting ofroads, water supply etc. while the funds of on-going development schemescould not be utilized for any other purpose.

It further said that all Ministries and departments concerned have beeninformed.
