DUBAI – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit the UnitedArab Emirates by tomorrow, ten days before the fourth election in two years.
According to the latest reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuis visiting UAE for the first after normalization of their ties.
Israel’s Haaretz newspaper said Netanyahu would meet with Emirati CrownPrince Mohammed bin Zayed and return to Israel on the same day.
It was not immediately clear if he would also travel to Bahrain, as he hadplanned to do during the previously scheduled trip to the Gulf in February.
In early February, Netanyahu delayed his trips to the UAE and Bahrain forthe third time, due to the restrictions on air travel as part of theCOVID-19 lockdown.
Israel established formal relations with the UAE and Bahrain last Septemberas part of a US-brokered agreement. The three countries share commonconcerns about Iran.
Since signing the peace agreement, Israel and UAE have started directflights and discussed several business deals. The countries have alsostarted talks over an oil pipeline linking the Red Sea with theMediterranean, whose operations Israeli officials treat as top secret.
