In Occupied Kashmir, Journalists face harassment and threats of violence

ISLAMABAD – In occupied Jammu and Kashmir, journalists face harassment andthreats of violence.

Kashmir Press Club has issued a statement about attacks and harassmentfaced by journalists in the region while reporting from behind India’scommunications lockdown. It includes testimonies of journalists who wereharassed by police and the Indian authorities.

Journalists are being summoned in police stations and interrogation centersin occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Not only local journalists, interntional media outlets like BBC and AlJazeera have also reported harassment of their reporters in the territoryby Indian authorities.

Since revoking the article 370, India has now allowed journalists to reportfreely from the occupied territory. Internet gag has also played animportant role in silence the voices of journalists.

The situation for journalists in occupied Jammu and Kashmir is moredangerous and life threatening now than at any point in recent years.
