In a shame, Indian government disowns it s National Kabbadi Team participating in Kabaddi World Cup 2020 in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – In a shame, Indian government disowns it’s National KabbadiTeam participating in Kabaddi World Cup 2020 in Pakistan.

The coach of the Indian kabaddi team currently in Pakistan to take part ina World Cup said on Monday that Indian government had not objected over theteam participation in Pakistan.

He further said that the players had gone across the border in theirindividual capacity.

The players representing India at the Kabaddi World Cup (Circle Kabaddi)all hail from Punjab and coach Harpreet Singh Baba said they got theinvitation for the tournament.

The Kabaddi World Cup features teams from 10 countries but the AmateurKabaddi Federation of India and Punjab Kabaddi Federation (India) deniedsending any official team to the event. “We had got the invitation for thisevent last year and the invitation was sent to individual players as wellas clubs and the Punjab Kabaddi Federation.

Players have played in such tournaments individually and on their own andas a promoter, I have always encouraged players to play and help in thegrowth of the sport,” Baba told The Indian Expresslink from Lahore.

“Each of us had applied for visa individually and the team was named Indiasince the tournament is called the World Cup. If there was any objectionfrom the Ministry of External Affairs, sports Ministry, Amateur KabaddiFederation of India (AKFI) or Punjab Kabaddi Federation, they should havestopped us from coming here.

We have come here on a valid visa. Most of these players have played acrossthe world as individuals in various events.”
