ISLAMABAD – Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, IndustrialProduction and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood on Friday announced that TradeDevelopment Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) will facilitate Pakistan FurnitureCouncil (PFC) for organizing solo exhibitions in Gulf countries especiallyin Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman and Muscat to exploit export potential in Muslimcountries.While talking to a PFC delegation led by its Chief Executive Mian KashifAshfaq, he assured that the government would provide all out assistance andsupport for improvement in finishing, designing and quality.The government will also extend cooperation to PFC for training ofwoodworkers on modern scientific lines to meet the international standard.He further asked the PFC chief to collect the data of all furnituremanufacturers and seek their concrete proposals for incorporating nationaleconomic policies, says a press release.He emphasized upon the urgent need of proper finishing of products andimproving its quality bringing at par with international standards. He washappy to note that a vast potential exist in furniture industry and we canexport fabulous traditional furniture products worldwide.He further said that he was very much impressed with the efforts ofPakistani furniture manufacturers who displayed variety of exquisitefurniture items during last 3-day mega 10th Interiors Pakistan” exhibitionheld last month in Expo Centre Lahore.Razak Dawood also invited PFC leadership to come up with viable set ofproposals for final discussion with him prior to placing before PrimeMinister Imran Khan for approval. He said it was his desire that overallfurniture industry should benefit from the packages of incentives likely tobe offered shortly by the government so all its stakeholders should takeadvantage by exporting its products.Mian Kashif Ashfaq thanked the adviser on this occasion for ensuringsupport and assistance both financial and technical to revitalize the sickindustry in Pakistan especially furniture sector which was gravely ignoredduring previous elected governments.He also assured the adviser that the business community of the countrywould provide its full support to the government towards implementing itsreform agenda and overcoming the current economic challenges. – APP
