In QUETTA, Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar has expressed criticism towards the government's allocation of a substantial sum for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
He suggests that this funding should have been directed towards enhancing the country's educational system and sectors that generate employment opportunities. During a seminar held to launch a 'Strategy Plan' on International Literacy Day, Kakar emphasized that education is paramount for the development of both society and the nation.
He called on the government to allocate maximum resources and opportunities to promote education, aiming to propel Pakistan into a prosperous and developed global entity.
The seminar was organized by the Social Welfare, Literacy, and Non-formal Education Department, along with the Education Parliamentarians Caucus of the Senate. Various prominent figures, including Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali, Interim Home Minister Mir Zubair Jamali, Parliamentary Caucus of Senate Chairperson Senator Sana Jamali, Senator Fauzia Arshad, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Social Welfare and Women Development Shania Khan, and others, also shared their insights at the event.
Governor Kakar advocated for channeling these funds into the establishment of institutions geared towards creating employment opportunities, rather than fostering dependency on charitable handouts of a few thousand rupees.
