SRINAGAR - In occupied Kashmir, for the first time in history, the Indian authorities disallowed the congregational gathering at the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar on the eve of Eid-e-Milad-un Nabi (SAW).
A security official told media that a plan had been devised to ensure no crowd or gathering takes place at Hazratbal shrine on Eid e Milad and additional security deployment will be put in place across Srinagar including Hazratbal and its adjoining areas.
Locals say the decision to ban prayers at the shrine has hurt the religious sentiments of people of Kashmir, who have emotional and spiritual attachment with the shrine as it houses the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
