The United States and China held top level diplomatic and security dialogue in Washington.
Later addressing a joint news conference along with Chinese Senior Communist Party Official Yang Jiechi, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said his country is not pursuing a cold war or containment policy with China.
Yang said the Chinese side is committed to peace and development in the Asia-Pacific.
