LAHORE: A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench on Thursday dismissed a bail petition, filed by a key accused involved in a case of Rs 10 billion scam of motorcycles.
The bench, comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem, heard the post-arrest bail petition, filed by an accused, Muhammad Ahmad Sial.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel requested the bench for granting benefit of bail to the accused as National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had failed to present any evidence against him. He contended that all the allegations levelled against his client were baseless.
However, the NAB prosecutor argued that the bureau had filed a reference against 39 people including Muhammad Ahmad Sial.
He submitted that M/s MNM (Pvt) Ltd Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Ahmed Sial and other stockists, associated with it, deprived more than 11,000 people of their hard-earned money on the promise of providing them with new motorcycles (each against Rs 25,000).
He submitted that the bureau had solid evidence against the accused and pleaded with the court for dismissal of the petition.
The bench, after hearing arguments of the parties, dismissed the bail petition.
