Indian Army alleged off gross violations of elections laws

ISLAMABAD -Indian Army has been alleged off gross violations of elections laws in Indian region.

Indian Deputy Election Commissioner Leh wrote to Army about gross violation of electronic ballot system by the officers.

The DEO, in his letter, said that commanding officers have been found seeking electoral preferences from jawans on phone instead of providing ballot papers to them. The commission had warned Army of strict legal action the case.

However, Army has denied the allegations. In a statement, Army said that some political candidates appear to have complained regarding postal ballot process to be cast by service personnel.

Army said that the DEO complaint letter did not mention any specific instances and that the preliminary investigations indicate that the complaints are unfounded and appears to have made to tarnish the image of Army.
