Pakistani Hindu community celebrated Holi in solidarity with persecuted Muslims in Indian capital Delhi

ISLAMABAD - Holi, a Hindu religious festival celebrated on the full moon day in the Hindu lunisolar calendar month of Phalgun, signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring and end of winter.

The festival is also celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest and to mark the start of spring.

Pakistani Hindu community celebrated Holi this year with sobriety to show the solidarity with Muslims who were persecuted in Dehli riots in India.

The representatives of the Hindu community in Pakistan marched in support of Muslims affected by riots in Delhi last month.

Pakistani Hidu Community said “we are doing a march to give the expression of protest against the persecution and brutalities against Muslims in the recent violent riots in New Delhi, India.”

Riots in Indian capital New Delhi last month have claimed the lives of 53 people, largely from the Muslim community.

The communal clashes saw the destruction of homes, properties, and mosques of Muslims as well.

Earlier today Prime Minister Imran Khan wished the entire Hindu community living in Pakistan a very happy and peaceful Holi.

Holi known as the festival of colours celebrated across Pakistan by members of the Hindu community.

Taking to Twitter the premiere felicitated the minority community on occasion of their religious festival, celebrated across the country today.

The tweet read: “Wishing all our Hindu community a very happy and peaceful Holi, the festival of colours.”
