LAHORE – The Punjab government has decided to issue Sehat (health) Cards to government employees after Prime Minister Imran Khan directed to make a complete plan in this regard.
Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said that the premier has approved providing health cards to the government employees.
Through these Health Cards, families living below poverty line will be provided US $2 per day with financial protection against extraordinary healthcare expenditure. This Sehat Card provides its enrolled poor beneficiary access to quality indoor healthcare services, worth Rs 720,000, free of cost and with dignity from public and private empaneled hospitals of their choice across the country.
Wide range of both medical and surgical indoor services are included in this scheme including heart surgeries, stunts, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, dialysis, maternity and other medical and surgical services.
Those living below the poverty line benefit from the health scheme. As per the vision of the prime minister, health sector is being given top priority and work has been expedited to bring improvement in it.
It is expected that upon completion of the program implementation, a total of 14 million families (approximately 80 million individuals) will be enrolled and benefiting from the scheme in all districts of the country.
