Race for Balochistan’s next CM begins

QUETTA: Following yesterday’s resignation of Sardar Sanaullah Zehri as the Balochistan chief minister, it is time now for the party to choose a Chief Minister. Already a couple of names including Saleh Bhutani, Jaan Jamali and Nawab Changezi have been doing rounds among the party circles.

Sources claimed that Saleh Bhutani is the hot favorite for the top slot and Jaan Jamali and Nawab Changezi were also strong candidate, while Nawabzada Tariq Magsi would be the new Balochistan Assembly Speaker.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam would get the ministries of Planning and Development, Health and Finance,while Moulana Abdul Wasay would be the Senior Minister in the new set-up, sources added.

On the other hand, former Balochistan home minister Sarfraz Bugti said that the new candidate for the top slot would be named after consultations, adding that they would join any other political party if they are expelled from the party.

Meanwhile, Balochistan National Party (BNP) leader Akhtar Mengal while mentioning dangers said that they would not support the dissolution of Balochistan Assembly.
