ISLAMABAD - Pakistan to stay at top spot in the ICC Twenty20 rankings until the World Cup 2019 scheduled to start in June next year.
After whitewashing Australia and New Zealand in back to back series in UAE, Pakistan has widened the gap with no.2 India standing 12 points ahead.
The Green Caps are currently perched on the notch with 138 points, thanks to their unbeaten run, while India is placed on second with 126 points. ------------------------------
Even if Pakistan loses 3-0 against South Africa in the coming series and India wins all their T20s until World Cup, Man in Blue cannot surpass Green Shirts at least until the World Cup 2019, ICC’s ranking predictor suggests.
In the case of Pakistan losing all their matches and India winning theirs, there would still be a gap of 2 points between the two arch-rivals.
And with no.3 team Australian being another 12 points behind from India, there seems to be no contest for Pakistan until June 2019.
In December 2017, Pakistan rose to the top spot in the shortest format for the first time after Sarfraz Ahmed took reins of the captaincy in 2016.
