ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday stopped National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) chief Ayaz Khan Niazi in NICL scandal case.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard NICL scandal case. During the hearing, the chief justice remarked that the NAB arrests those who are in Pakistan while leaves out the ones who are supposed to be taken into custody.
“Those who have to be arrested have fled the country. We know how people are facilitated by the anti-graft in fleeing abroad,” the CJ criticised during his remarks.
Earlier, Niazi along with 12 others appeared in court a few days back, over the NICL scandal. He was arrested in May over the top court’s orders, but was granted bail later.
On the other hand, the apex-court uplifted the ban over the new recruitment in Pakistan Institute Of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
