PM Imran Khan holds important meeting with the economic team, gives key instructions

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday advised his economic team toduly publicise the government’s economic reforms and their outcomes inorder to counter the baseless propaganda by some mafias.

“Unfortunately, some individuals were spreading baseless propaganda on acrucial subject like economy, just for the sake of their personal gains,”the PM said while chairing a meeting of his economic team. “Such maliciousattempts could only be repudiated if the economic team communicates truthto the masses regarding the measures and headways achieved by thegovernment on economic fronts.”

The meeting discussed in detail the overall economic condition, pendingcourt cases concerning the Federal Board of Revenue, facilitation ofexpatriates to send remittances, revival of the Pakistan Steel Mills, andsteps to pass on the benefits of economic stability to the people.

The prime minister told the meeting that the government’s efforts foreconomic stability had brought about remarkable outcomes. He said therewere clear signs of the economic stability in the country that had beencrippled by serious challenges.

“Even the international institutions are acknowledging the improvement ofeconomic indicators and stability. The prudent steps taken by thegovernment has revived the confidence of both the local and foreigninvestors,” the PM stated.

He said after achieving the economic stability, the government was makingefforts to provide maximum relief to the people despite resourceconstraints.

He said the multifaceted initiative of ‘Ehsaas’, launched by the governmentfor poverty alleviation and social protection, manifested the government’spriorities.

“Besides making untiring efforts for the overall economic development, thegovernment is also ensuring the supply of daily use items to the common manon reasonable prices.”

Mentioning the government’s efforts against hoarding and profiteering, theprime minister said modern technology was also being introduced to bringabout transparency and corruption.

He directed the economic team to resolve the pending cases related to theeconomy on priority to make the economic journey continue uninterrupted.
