Now street crimes would be dealt under anti terrorism measures

KARACHI – The Sindh Apex Committee on Monday took significant decisions inits 23rd session.

The meeting decided to apply Anti terrorism Act provisions on the streetcrimes.

Meeting was chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was attended byKarachi corps commander, Sindh chief secretary, director general (DG)Rangers, Sindh inspector general of police and other officials.

The participants exchanged views on National Action Plan (NAP),investigation into anti-terrorism cases, prosecution and current securitysituation in the country.

It was told that legal reforms are being considered to end the rampantstreet crimes in the city following which anti-terror provisions will beplaced on them.

The meeting decided that the crime cases would be heard by specialmagistrates under Section 30 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) whilethose convicted will be handed prison sentences ranging from three to sevenyears.
