ISLAMABAD – Spokesperson for the Foreign Office Dr. Mohammad Faisal saysadoption of three resolutions by the main committee of the United Nationsis a testimony to Pakistan’s commitment to regional and international peaceand security.
In a tweet message today, he said Pakistan will continue bringing morefocus on these, with a view to supporting global disarmament efforts.
These resolutions, moved by Pakistan and adopted on Thursday, focused onregional disarmament, conventional arms control at regional andsub-regional levels as well as confidence building measures in the regionaland sub-regional context.
Dr Faisal said the resolutions underscored the importance of regionalapproaches to disarmament which complemented global disarmament efforts andstressed the need for promoting confidence-building measures for enhancingregional and international peace and security.
Earlier, the committee adopted Pakistan’s annual resolution on assuringnon-nuclear weapon states against the use or threat of use of nuclearweapons by a strong majority of 122 votes.
