No compromise on Supreme Court decisions: PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan says the government will soon launcha comprehensive poverty alleviation program in the country.

He was addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of Shelter Home project forthe people, who spend their nights under the open sky, in Lahore onSaturday.

The Prime Minister said coordinated efforts will be made by engaging allthe organizations working for welfare of people to alleviate poverty in thecountry.

He said the government will benefit from China’s experience of bringingseven hundred million people out of poverty in thirty years.

Expressing his resolve to make Pakistan a truly welfare state, Imran Khansaid establishment of Shelter Home for homeless people in Lahore is thefirst step to this direction.

He said five sites have been allocated for establishing Shelter Homes forthe homeless people, and he will also ask for setting up such shelters inRawalpindi, Peshawar and Karachi.

The Prime Minister said the country has come out of the crisis of repaymentof loans owing to the strenuous efforts of the government during the lasttwo months, and now all efforts will be put in for initiatingpublic-welfare projects.

Responding to a question, the Prime Minister said the government wantssupremacy of the law in the country.

He said the government stands with the Supreme Court decisions and therewill be no compromise on it.

The Prime Minister said the verdicts of the Supreme Court will be enforcedwith letter and spirit.

He said the founder of Pakistan had envisioned a welfare Muslim state whereall citizens can enjoy equal rights regardless of creed, ethnicity, race,language and gender.

He praised the performance of the chief minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdarand lauded the efforts of the LDA for the development of the provincialmetropolis.

Imran Khan said PTI has made Usman Buzdar Chief Minister of the Punjab sothat the marginalized areas of the southern Punjab could be brought at parwith the developed areas.

Earlier, the Prime Minister was given a briefing by the Punjab governmentofficials about the functioning and management of shelter homes.

The shelter building is aimed at restoring the self-respect of those peoplewho spend night under the open sky as well as broadening the circle ofsocial responsibility by the state and citizens.

The project will also meet the requirements of the needy persons byestablishing safe places for them.

It will also include construction of multi-purpose halls for impartingtraining and holding of public awareness programmes on vital socialobjectives.
