Pakistani nuclear hero Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan passes away at age of 85

KARACHI – Pakistani nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, often referredto as AQ Khan, passed away at the age of 85 in the country’s federalcapital on Sunday.

Reports quoting sources cited that Khan, who earlier contracted novelcoronavirus, breathed his last Sunday after his health deteriorated earliertoday.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed speaking with a news channel said medicalexperts tried their best to save the life of a Pakistani hero but hishealth deteriorated. Some reports stated that he suffered hemorrhage afterhis lung collapsed.

Khan’s funeral prayers will be held at the Faisal Mosque at 3:30 pm todaywhile his body has been moved from the hospital to his residence.

Khan, who is also considered as Mohsin-i-Pakistan, earlier requested theentire nation to offer prayers for his recovery from the ailment not asingle government functionary had even made a telephone call to inquireabout his health.

He was admitted to Khan Research Laboratories Hospital on August 26 afterhe tested positive for Covid-19. Later, he was shifted to a militaryhospital in Rawalpindi. The deceased also complained that neither PrimeMinister Imran Khan, nor his cabinet members inquired after his health.
