KARACHI: Zurich-based Fédération Internationale des Associations de Transitaires et Assimilés (FIATA) has elected Mr Babar Badat as its president at its World Congress, 2017 on Oct 8.
FIATA — International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations — is a global body, representing over 50,000 international logistics companies from 150 member countries. The total employee strength of FIATA member companies is over 10 million.
Mr Badat is the founder chairman of the Pakistan International Freight Forwarders Association (PIFFA), and ran unopposed for the position.
“FIATA is the premier global logistics organisation, as such bringing its Presidency home is a matter of great pride and honour for Pakistan’s trade in general and the transport logistics industry in particular.
Today it becomes even more relevant for us as Pakistan works towards establishing itself as a regional transit hub under the auspicious of CPEC,” said the press release announcing the election.
