Pakistan decides to take strong action over terrorists infiltration from Afghanistan soil

On Sunday, Pakistan sternly declared its determination to confront theresurgence of terrorism, prompted by a terrorist attack on two militaryposts located in the Lower Chitral district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, in a press conference heldin Islamabad, urged the Afghan government to adhere to the Doha Agreement’sprovisions, ensuring that Afghan territory remains inviolable for hostileactivities against any nation.

Mr. Bugti asserted that the terrorists responsible for the attack,affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), had infiltrated fromAfghanistan. Pakistan pledged to respond resolutely to the renewed threatof terrorism and protect every inch of its territory. He applauded thepeople of Chitral for their support of the Pakistan Army during thischallenging period, emphasizing that no one would be permitted to disruptpeace through the use of force.

Sarfraz Bugti further emphasized the responsibility of defending every partof the country and highlighted the Pakistan Army’s robust response tocounter the terrorist threat. Pakistan has recently experienced anescalation in terrorist activities, particularly in the regions of KhyberPakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the termination of the ceasefirebetween the government and the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan inNovember of the previous year.

Notably, the attack in Chitral resulted in the martyrdom of four PakistanArmy soldiers, with 12 terrorists being eliminated on the Pak-Afghanborder. The Army’s media wing disclosed that intelligence had indicatedterrorist movement in the Nuristan and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan, andtimely action by security forces led to the successful elimination of adozen terrorists.

The day before, Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani confirmedthat Pakistan had issued a demarche to Afghanistan in response to theterrorist attack in Chitral. This reflects Pakistan’s resolute commitmentto safeguarding its national security and stability amidst rising threatsfrom across the border.
